Meiji
Seika is active the three areas of
food pharmaceuticals and new business
lines. Based on the main themes food
and pharmaceuticals, Meiji Seika are
providing products, services and information
in the related fields of confectionery,
food products, medicine, health, agricultural
chemicals and veterinary medicines,
and the environment.
In
1946 Meiji made their first surface
culture of penicillin.
In
1950, Meiji Seika marketed Streptomycin
and then went on to make rapid progress
in aerobic fermentation techniques
by using large tanks. In 1958, Meiji
Seika achieved Japan's first production
of an internationally accepted antibiotic
with the development of Kanamycin by
using their own technology. Since then,
Meiji Seika, has launched high selling
antibiotics, one after another including
Dibekacin, Fosfomycin, Midecamycin
acetate, Cefminox, Arbekacin, and Cefditoren
pivoxil.
